The swearing-in ceremony for the new members of the Joint Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (COPASST) was held for the 2026–2028 term at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS). This team plays a fundamental role in strengthening the culture of well-being and workplace safety within the institution by promoting preventive measures, conducting risk assessments, and improving working conditions.

“It has always been very gratifying for us that, in these election processes, we have the participation of several slates of candidates, even though this is a demanding and unpaid task. This reflects the commitment of our staff members, who come from different areas such as UISALUD and Facilities Management, among others,” noted Olga Patricia Chacón Arias, head of the Human Talent Management Division.

The new committee members expressed their satisfaction at taking on this role and agreed on the importance of ensuring safe and healthy work environments for the entire university community.

“I am very happy to be part of this committee, which works to ensure the safety of all employees. Our goal is to monitor working conditions and help prevent accidents,” said Juan Guillermo Sánchez, a staff member in the Physical Plant Division at the Guatiguará Technology Park.

“Being part of this committee represents a significant commitment and a source of personal satisfaction. In my role, I hope to propose initiatives that contribute to the smooth operation of activities and the well-being of the university community,” said Mónica Álvarez, secretary of the Department of Pediatrics.

With the formation of the new COPASST, the UIS is making progress in promoting safe, healthy, and inclusive workplaces for all its employees.
