Laura Noelia Carreño Tibaná, a ninth-semester student in the Animal Science program at the UIS Málaga campus, is currently enjoying an enriching international mobility experience at the National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) at the La Magnolia experimental unit in Tacuarembó, Uruguay.
During her internship, Laura is actively participating in herd management and reproductive control processes, as well as in research aimed at controlling and measuring greenhouse gas production at an experimental station dedicated to the development of sustainable agricultural production systems. This academic experience not only strengthens her professional training, but also allows her to apply her knowledge in a highly specialized international environment.
“Living this international mobility experience has been something unique and extremely valuable for me. Doing my internship at INIA in Uruguay allowed me to learn a lot, not only academically and professionally, but also personally. It was an opportunity to learn new ways of working, share with other people, and grow as a human being. Without a doubt, this experience motivates me to keep going, to value my profession even more, and to reaffirm my commitment to the agricultural sector. It is a milestone in my life that I will always carry with me, proud to have represented my university,” said Laura Carreño.

For Professor Daniel Felipe Torres, coordinator of the Animal Science program, these mobility initiatives are fundamental to the students’ educational process.
“From our regional campuses, we seek to ensure that these experiences not only strengthen our students’ knowledge and skills, but also allow them to discover new cultures, broaden their worldview, and take on future professional challenges with greater confidence. By offering these opportunities, we seek to ensure that each student becomes a competitive professional, committed to social transformation and capable of providing innovative solutions from a global perspective.”
These types of exchanges reflect the Industrial University of Santander’s commitment to the comprehensive education of its students, promoting spaces for intercultural learning, international outreach, and links to scientific and technological knowledge networks.
