The Department of Physical Education and Sports continues to strengthen university sports through an agreement with Catapult Sports, an Australian company specializing in technology for sports performance analysis. The partnership will enable the incorporation of 30 devices designed to monitor the physical performance of university athletes.
The first phase of this initiative will be implemented with the women’s and men’s futsal teams. Their members will wear customized vests equipped with high-precision technology to record real-time data related to their performance during training sessions and official competitions.
Data to Optimize Performance
The devices will collect information on accelerations, decelerations, high-intensity efforts, changes of direction, and other key metrics that are essential for understanding the individual and collective physical workload of each athlete.
This data will make it possible to identify potential situations of excessive physical load, strengthen injury-prevention strategies, and support decision-making by coaches and sports professionals. The ultimate goal is to optimize athletic performance based on objective data.

Research and Technology at the Service of Sports
This agreement reinforces the institution’s commitment to establishing itself as a pioneer in research and technology applied to sports. The initiative will facilitate the integration of knowledge developed through the Master’s Degree in Sports Talent Development with tools that support performance analysis, the generation of scientific evidence, and the development of new research opportunities.
Through this partnership, UIS reaffirms its commitment to innovation as a tool to promote the well-being, performance, and comprehensive development of its athletes. By incorporating technological solutions, the university is bringing collegiate sports closer to high-performance standards.
