The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) continued this Tuesday with the process of reforming its General Statute, carrying out the sixth day of discussion and consensus. This meeting had the active participation of students, professors and administrative staff.
The day focused on the discussion of the proposal for partial reform of the General Statute presented by the Association of Professors of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (AsproUIS), and on the percentages for the election of university directors, an issue of vital importance for the governance and representation of the UIS community. The participation of all sectors was essential to reach agreements and consensus on this issue, where “it is hoped that this process of open and participatory dialogue will contribute to the construction of a statute that reflects the needs and aspirations of the entire university community” said Diana Vannesa Ariza, Student representative to the Academic Council.
The reform process continues, and it is expected that future workshops will address other issues relevant to university life. The UIS has demonstrated its commitment to democratic participation and collective construction, setting a positive precedent for university management. For Brayan Stiward Donado, student leader, “there are several proposals on the table, today we continue unifying them to bring a greater consensus before the university assembly and then to the University Councils”.
