Applause, laughter, tears, and many more emotions filled this Thursday’s graduation ceremonies, where 832 people received their degrees.

The pride of being UIS and standing on the stage of the Luis A. Calvo Auditorium, sealing years of effort and dedication, was a constant throughout the day.

“Being at UIS was not limited to academics; I built bonds of friendship and shared experiences with others. We laughed, we enjoyed, and that fulfills me deeply. I really enjoy research and will continue in this field,” said María Fernanda Carvajal Guerrero, Physics graduate.

Among the distinctions, Andrés Felipe Useda Suárez stood out as Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Metallurgical Engineering program. Additionally, 23 students were recognized with Cum Laude honors.

“The learning goes beyond academics; I had great classmates, and my experience at the University was enriching thanks to the appreciation of culture. I feel immense happiness in seeing so many years of effort rewarded,” said Leonardo Mora Rangel.

At the same time, the achievement of Lucelly Mejía was celebrated — an Arhuaco woman from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta — who, with the strength of her roots and the invaluable support of her son Harold and her sister Nelsy, received her diploma as a UIS Business Technologist.

“I live in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, and today I am here at UIS. I feel very proud to reach this goal because I know what this achievement represents for me and for my community, given the knowledge I can contribute,” expressed the UIS graduate with emotion.

In these UIS graduation ceremonies, the emotion of Nasly Merchán also shone brightly as she received her degree in Judicial and Criminalistics Management Technology. She was accompanied by the boundless pride of her father, Albeiro Merchán, who, deeply moved, traveled from his hometown of San Alberto (Cesar) to be by his daughter’s side on this very special day: “I feel very proud because this is the result of her effort and struggle throughout all these years.”

This Friday it will be the turn of the Faculty of Health, where 48 people will receive their degrees in a special ceremony to be held in the modern auditorium of that campus.
