This week began the Zonal Phase of the Ascun University Games and there the UIS got victories in volleyball and indoor soccer.
In the first of them the victory was 25-11, 25-19 and 25-13 against Universidad de Investigación y Desarrollo (UDI), now the next rival will be Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, match to be played on Thursday, April 3 at 8:00 p. m. in the UIS Coliseum.
“I have expectations with the team, we are united and the idea is to be first in the tournament. I am excited because it is my first participation in the Ascún”, said Melanie Gallego Uribe, a first semester student of Pharmacy Regency.
On the first day, the women’s indoor soccer team won 4-2 against Universidad Santo Tomás (Usta) with goals by Fernanda García, Natalia Mantilla and a brace by Daniela Cáceres. Now they will face this Wednesday, from 6:00 p. m., the Technological Units of Santander at the Sol de Aquino Coliseum of the Santo Tomás University in Piedecuesta.

The champion of the Zone Phase qualifies directly to the National Championship to be held in Bucaramanga in October. The runner-up will go to the Regional to be held in May in Tunja.
