With the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) as a strategic ally, the Ministry of Education and the National Government launched in Guaviare the strategy “Higher Education in Your School,” a key initiative to expand access to higher education in remote regions of Colombia.

The event, held at Manuela Beltrán School in San José del Guaviare, was led by the Minister of Education, Daniel Rojas Medellín, who presented this initiative that will allow thousands of young people to access higher education programs without leaving their territories.

During the event, beneficiary students shared their expectations regarding this initiative, while the governor of Guaviare, Yeison Rojas Martínez, welcomed a strategy that projects new opportunities for the department’s youth.

UIS, a key ally in the regions

In this important setting, UIS had a prominent participation through its regional outreach coordinator, Jorge Villamizar, who reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to expanding higher education in historically excluded areas.

“The Industrial University of Santander is committed to bringing quality higher education to every corner of the country. This strategy allows us to bring real opportunities closer to young people in their own territories, transforming lives and strengthening regional development,” said Villamizar.

One of the most significant moments was the symbolic signing of the commitment to higher education, strengthening coordination between the Ministry of Education, the National Government, and partner institutions to guarantee equitable access to knowledge.

The Ministry of Education highlighted that this initiative is one of the central pillars of the National Government’s efforts to democratize higher education in Colombia.

With this launch, and with the support of strategic allies such as UIS, the country moves toward a more inclusive education system, bringing real opportunities to territories where access to higher education was previously limited.
