With dreams fulfilled and new challenges ahead, 1,147 UIS professionals celebrate their graduation

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) celebrates the graduation of 1,147 new professionals, who have successfully completed a fundamental stage of their academic training and are set to become agents of transformation for the region and the country.

Diverse education with the UIS seal of excellence

Of the total number of graduates, 604 are men and 543 are women, a figure that reflects the diversity and commitment of the university community to academic excellence. The degrees awarded correspond to undergraduate and graduate programs, evidence of the institutional strength of the UIS in comprehensive education, research, and advanced training of human talent.

During graduation ceremonies, the University recognizes the effort, discipline, and perseverance of students, as well as the constant support of families, teachers, and administrators who are part of the educational process. Each diploma awarded symbolizes not only the completion of an academic cycle, but also the beginning of new professional and personal challenges.

Inspiring voices: academic merit and family support

One of the most significant moments was the recognition of students who obtained Cum Laude honors. Lawyer Juliana Urrego expressed her gratitude for this achievement: “I am very grateful. I honestly did not expect it, because being Cum Laude for us, and at least for lawyers, is not such an easy distinction, so I am very grateful and very happy.”

For economist Edna Calvo Lozada, her family has been a fundamental pillar along this journey. “Thanks to them, I am who I am, I have been here. Let’s say that financial resources have never been abundant, but they have never been scarce either. We have always looked for ways to be here, to keep moving forward,” she said, while highlighting her parents’ constant encouragement in each of her achievements.

For his part, economist Rafael Eduardo Arévalo Navarro stressed that achieving this distinction means “continuing to maintain certain standards of quality and professionalism that have been reflected in both individuals and companies and, in general, in the well-being of society as a whole.”

With this new cohort of graduates, the Industrial University of Santander reaffirms its commitment to quality public education and to training ethical, critical, and socially responsible professionals who are called upon to transform their environment and contribute to the scientific, social, and economic development of Colombia.
