More than 300 10th and 11th grade students from different municipalities in the province of García Rovira participated in the University Fair led by the Governor’s Office, where the Industrial University of Santander shared its academic offerings, tuition-free policy, and the many benefits of being part of the UIS family.
During the event, teachers and students from the Forestry Engineering and Animal Husbandry programs presented classroom projects, shared experiences, and answered questions from young people about the opportunities offered by public higher education in the region. In addition, they shared information about the new Veterinary Medicine program and the positive impact this new academic offering will have on the region.
Wilson Reatiga, a teacher at the Luis María Carvajal Agricultural Technical Institute in Molagavita, who accompanied his high school students, highlighted the importance of these types of educational spaces.

“It’s fabulous because young people learn about what they can study close to home, and that’s a big plus,” he said.
For her part, Paula Andrea Rangel Castellanos, an 11th-grade student, expressed her gratitude for the 2025 University Fair.
“I am very grateful to the UIS for coming to show us their degree programs. It motivates us, broadens our horizons, and the projects they presented were very appealing. In my case, I am interested in studying Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine.”
Likewise, Laura Palacios, an 11th-grade student from Malaga, said: “I am very interested in anything related to forests. It is very interesting that there is Forestry Engineering at UIS Malaga without having to leave home.”
Teacher Luisa Mendoza, from the Animal Science program, highlighted the importance of these spaces.
“These fairs bring the university closer to the educational community, showcasing its academic offerings and inspiring young people to pursue careers. They also strengthen the link between the university and schools, promoting access to quality higher education. For teachers, it is an opportunity to share experiences and guide students in their career choices, highlighting the social and scientific impact of degrees such as Animal Science and Forestry Engineering.”
During the fair, UIS Málaga also managed to capture the attention of the youngest visitors, who were curious and enthusiastic about learning about the different classroom projects presented by the university, reaffirming that science belongs to everyone and is for everyone.
