Leidy Dayana Guarín Manrique, UIS doctoral student, carried out an important research within the framework of the inter-institutional co-supervision agreement between the University of Alicante and the Universidad Industrial de Santander, an initiative that was part of the Doctorate in Engineering in management and technological development, in conjunction with the Doctorate in Business, Economics and Society of the UA. This internship, carried out between October 2024 and March of this year, received support from the Colombian National Technology Transfer Network – JOINN, as well as from the Pacific Alliance Technology Transfer Network.
The project, entitled “Intermediation in Agroindustrial Innovation Systems. The Effect of Intermediary Agents in the Promotion of Technology Transfer in Agroindustrial Innovation Systems”, is currently in its documentation stage. During her internship at the UA, Dr. Guarín was able to adapt an information gathering instrument used by the Spanish Network of Research Results Transfer Offices of Universities – RedOTRI. This effort resulted in obtaining valuable data that, together with the contributions from several Latin American countries, are the basis for the development of a conceptual model related to the research.
During his stay in Spain, Guarín Manrique also worked on two academic papers: one presented at the International Congress on Innovation and Appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies – CIINATIC and the other at the Latin American and Ibero-American Association of Technology and Innovation Management – ALTEC. Additionally, in 2023, it presented another paper at the Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions – LACCEI 2023, highlighting its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge in the agro-industrial field.
On April 1st, the directors of the project, Professor Hugo Ernesto Martínez Ardila of the UIS and PhD. María Jesús Pastor Llorca of the UA, met in Alicante to evaluate the results of the internship and agree on new actions to continue promoting the generation of scientific knowledge around the findings obtained. The work of PhD. Leidy Dayana Guarín Manrique not only strengthens the ties between both institutions, but also represents a significant advance in agroindustrial research in Colombia and the world.
