UIS strengthens strategic ties with the Australian Embassy

Anna Chrisp, embajadora de Australia visita la UIS 2025

The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) received the visit of the Australian Ambassador, Anna Chrisp, in a meeting that sought to strengthen the strategic alliance with Australian universities and foster collaboration in key areas such as sustainable mining and renewable energy.

During her visit, new agreements were announced that expand academic mobility opportunities, allowing UIS students to access programs at prestigious Australian institutions. This initiative represents a significant step towards the internationalization of education and the exchange of knowledge in fields vital to sustainable development.

“I am very impressed with the quality of the university, with the welcome they have given me, and it is an experience where I can learn about the issues of UIS, about energy transition, sustainable mining, economic development; there are many things to work together” said Anna Chrisp, Australian Ambassador to Colombia.

A highlight of the event was the launch of the Australia Chair, an innovative platform that aims to enhance the global visibility of the UIS and strengthen its leadership in sustainable projects and educational innovation. The chair, which will be held annually, will serve as a space for research and dialogue on crucial issues affecting both Colombia and Australia.

For Liliana del Pilar Castro, Director of External Relations of the UIS, “the visit of the Australian Ambassador to Colombia is very important because it consolidates the ties of international cooperation between the UIS and Australian universities”. In addition, she highlighted that different areas of collaboration were addressed such as “research projects, transnational education, improvement in English and culture”.

The participation of Anna Chrisp, Australian Ambassador to Colombia, underlines the commitment of both countries to work together towards a more sustainable and collaborative future. This meeting not only strengthens bilateral relations, but also promotes cultural and academic exchange, benefiting the next generations of leaders and professionals in strategic areas.

With this visit, the UIS reaffirms its role as a reference in higher education and its commitment to sustainable development, opening new doors for international cooperation.
