UIS strengthens its academic leadership with the appointment of new executives

The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) simultaneously held the inauguration ceremony for two academic directors who will take charge of strategic units for training, research, and institutional outreach. The ceremony was attended by Rector Hernán Porras Díaz, Academic Vice-Rector Olga Mercedes Álvarez Ojeda, Secretary General Sofía Pinzón, and academic authorities from various faculties.

Leadership in industrial and business training

In this context, Professor Luis Eduardo Becerra Ardila took office as the new director of the School of Industrial and Business Studies, attached to the Faculty of Physical and Mechanical Engineering, before the rector of the UIS and the dean Johann Farith Petit Suárez. During the ceremony, his academic career and his commitment to strengthening the School’s mission processes were highlighted.

Professor Becerra Ardila is an industrial engineer and specialist in technology management from the UIS, and holds a master’s degree in administration from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education – UNAB, training that supports his leadership and strategic vision in the industrial and business fields.

Academic continuity and scientific projection in the field of health

Simultaneously, at the Scientific Complex for Health and Life Sciences Research, Professor Lady Rodríguez Burbano was inaugurated as director of the Department of Internal Medicine, attached to the School of Medicine. Professor Rodríguez is a graduate of the UIS, a specialist in Internal Medicine from this institution, holds a master’s degree in Health and Infections in the Tropics from the National University of Colombia, and is a doctoral candidate under the UIS-University of São Paulo (Brazil) agreement.

It should be noted that Professor Lady Rodríguez Burbano has been at the helm of the Department since 2019, during which time she has contributed to the academic, research, and healthcare strengthening of the Internal Medicine area.

With these assets, the Industrial University of Santander reaffirms its commitment to sound academic management based on experience, professional excellence, and leadership in the service of institutional development and society.
