The Industrial University of Santander (UIS) is getting ready to host the 2025 Ascún National Culture Festival, a cultural event that will take place on the main campus from October 20 to 30. The festival will feature more than 1,600 performing artists from universities across the country.
As part of the preparations, the Ascún Culture National Committee visited UIS for an initial approach to organizing the festival’s activities.
Regarding this first meeting, Elkin Rodrigo Alfonso, Culture Coordinator at UPTC and head of the Ascún Culture National Committee, stated, “We are visiting UIS because this year it will be the epicenter of culture with this event, which includes 10 artistic categories such as dance, theater, and music, among others. We are very excited to hold this event here, and we are working with some of the country’s most important universities to make it happen.”

The meeting was attended by representatives from Icesi University, UPTC, the National University of Colombia, the University of Tolima, the University of Córdoba, and UIS as the host institution. During the session, held on April 2, the delegates reviewed logistical and programmatic aspects to ensure the success of the event, which is envisioned as a platform for artistic expression and university community integration nationwide.
