The Universidad Industrial de Santander, sede Málaga, is advancing the planning of new sports facilities and recreational spaces, following a technical visit aimed at assessing the current conditions of the areas where the courts are planned to be built and defining key aspects for the development of the project.
During the visit, architect Pascual Cortés explained that one of the main objectives was to directly assess the condition of the area and the lot designated for the construction of the new sports courts. The on-site assessment made it possible to analyze the existing conditions and carry out specific measurements to determine the feasibility of the proposed facilities.
“The purpose of coming to UIS Málaga was to assess the condition of the area and the lot where the courts will be located,” said architect Pascual Cortés, highlighting the importance of verifying the actual characteristics of the site before moving forward with the next stages of the project.
One of the key aspects of the visit was taking measurements to verify the regulatory dimensions of the sports courts and determine how they can be adapted to the available space. This assessment will help establish the most appropriate layout for the facilities, taking into account both technical standards and the specific characteristics of the site.
Likewise, the team inspected the area known as El Prado, as well as the site where the Cemex plant was previously located, in order to assess the conditions of these areas and their potential integration into the project proposal.
In addition to the courts, the visit included the identification of smaller areas that could be used for other recreational and leisure spaces. The goal is to make appropriate use of the available areas and develop a proposal that expands the options available for the community to enjoy these spaces.
As part of the technical process, progress was also made in defining the boundaries of the identified areas and analyzing aspects related to rainwater and surface runoff management. This component is essential to ensure that the site’s drainage and water-management conditions are taken into account in the planning of the future sports and recreational facilities.
According to Pascual Cortés, this work is part of the ongoing process to define the characteristics of the court and the complementary spaces within the UIS Málaga campus. The information gathered during the visit will make it possible to continue with the conceptual and technical planning of the project.
