The Listening Center of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) has established itself as a fundamental pillar in strengthening the mental and social health of the university community. During the year 2024, this center implemented various actions focused on creating spaces of affective security, trust and mutual support, essential for students and academic-administrative staff to express their needs and concerns related to their emotional balance.

One of the central objectives of the Listening Center has been to promote an environment where members of the community can share their concerns and seek joint solutions to any emotional distress they may be facing. This collaborative approach has allowed for the establishment of mental health support and development processes, integrating the community in a collective effort to improve the quality of life for all.

Among the actions highlighted in the second half of 2024, guidance in case management and the channeling of resources through the promotion of recognition and activation of care routes, both within and outside the institution, were carried out. This process also included the connection with other social services, offering a comprehensive support network for those in need.

The Listening Center has had a significant impact, intervening a total of 6,295 people in the last half of 2024. The activities have been developed under four lines of intervention: information actions, promotion and prevention, universal prevention and training. These initiatives have proven to be a valuable support not only for UIS students, but also for the community in general, reaffirming the university’s commitment to the social and mental health of its environment.
