The School of Law and Political Science of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) received an important endorsement from the Colombian Ministry of Justice and Law to implement a training program in conciliation in law. This approval represents a significant recognition of the work and trajectory of the Legal Clinic and Conciliation Center of the UIS for 26 years.
This new program, which will be a diploma program, will provide a valuable opportunity to train not only future lawyers of the university, but also teachers and anyone interested in becoming a conflict manager. It is a remarkable achievement for the university community, which is entering a promising stage in the approach and management of conflicts.
The initiative also opens the doors to those who do not have a background in law, allowing them to access a high quality program in conflict management, with the objective of training as conciliators and mediators. “This is very important and I reiterate, it is a recognition of the trajectory of our School of Law in the subject precisely of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms,” said Javier Alejandro Acevedo, Director of the School of Law and Political Science UIS.
Obtaining this endorsement was a long-standing aspiration for the institution, which now sees its desire to actively contribute to the peaceful resolution of disputes. The School of Law and Political Science of the UIS announced that the call for the first cohort of conciliators and mediators will be held soon.
