The Language Institute of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) commemorated 35 years of history, offering teaching in various languages and contributing to the formation of citizens with international projection. The ceremony, which took place in the Aula Máxima of Mechanical Engineering, was attended by the rector Hernán Porras Díaz, together with directors, administrators and teachers.
More than a job, a family
“During these 22 years that I have been at the UIS Language Institute, I have felt that I do not come to work, but to share with my second family. Now, with the construction of the new building, I feel that the UIS is once again extending its hand to reach more people and that they trust us. I am happy to be part of this celebration,” said Mario Rueda, professor at the UIS Language Institute.
Amandina Correa, who has been linked to the administrative area of the children and youth program for more than two decades, shared the excitement of this commemoration, which also has a personal meaning for her: “The Language Institute has been my second home. My children are graduates of the University and the Institute, and that is a source of immense pride. I have lived through its growth and I hope to see the new building finished before I retire,” she said with emotion.

Quality with an international seal
The UIS Language Institute has established itself as a leader in language teaching in the region, with the support of national and foreign teachers. Professionals such as Hannah Hintermeister, English assistant for the Fulbright program, highlighted the quality of the training processes and the enthusiasm of students and teachers.
“The students at the Institute are incredible, as are their programs. I have spoken with several professors and I have been impressed by their knowledge, their passion and the empathy they transmit when teaching,” she said.
The day closed with recreational activities and a dance therapy session, promoting the wellbeing and integration of the entire university community during this special celebration.
