The Vicerrectoría Académica has invited UIS faculty members to actively participate in the keynote sessions and hands-on workshops taking place this Wednesday and Thursday at the main campus of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS).
Regarding the event, Professor Olga Mercedes Álvarez Ojeda, Vicerrectora Académica stated “This event will be organized into two main components. The first consists of keynote sessions, which will be held at the Auditorio Luis A. Calvo from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We will address topics related to artificial intelligence, a tool that is transforming education. The program will feature professors from our University who have incorporated this technology into their teaching practices, as well as experts from universities in other regions of the country.”
She added “in addition, we will address other topics related to the Misión Docencia UIS 2030 Action Plan, the progress of the Classroom Climate Instrument, and the Learning Communities initiative. A management report on inclusive education will also be presented.”

It is worth noting that from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., participants will attend practical workshops designed to provide tools and experiences that can be directly applied to teaching practice.
In this regard, Professor Álvarez Ojeda extended a special invitation to both tenured and temporary faculty members, stating “we especially invite you to participate in the workshops on artificial intelligence, as well as in other sessions focused on supporting our students.”
The vicerrectora Académica UIS also recalled that “the Pedagogical Innovation Conference emerged from a collaborative faculty initiative launched in 2024. This process generated proposals that have since evolved into several institutional challenges to be achieved by 2030. Based on these challenges, we organized the Pedagogical Innovation Conference to advance their implementation and continue strengthening student-centered education, in accordance with the Modelo Pedagógico UIS 2021.”
Participant registration will begin at 7:00 a.m. in the lobby of the Auditorio Luis A. Calvo, with the keynote sessions starting at 7:30 a.m.
Finally, Professor Olga Mercedes Álvarez Ojeda, Vicerrectora Académica UIS, encouraged all faculty members to take an active part in the event “dear colleagues, we invite you to participate actively, transform our teaching practices, and continue transforming the lives of our students.”
