The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) held the 10th edition of Successful Experiences in the Implementation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Teaching, an institutional initiative led by the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office that promotes the exchange of knowledge, practices, and lessons learned regarding the use of technology in education and training processes.
During the event, UIS professors who had participated in calls for proposals organized by the Academic Vice-Rector’s Office presented the experiences they had developed in their teaching processes, from implementation to the benefits and results achieved.
The event also featured the participation of faculty members and academic peers from higher education institutions across the country, as well as special guests who shared their own initiatives and lessons learned.
A Space for Knowledge Sharing and Outreach
In this way, the event went beyond the institutional sphere to become a national forum for dialogue on educational innovation and the effective use of ICT. Professors from different regions of the country participated virtually, strengthening dialogue and cooperation among academic communities.
Olga Mercedes Álvarez Ojeda, UIS Academic Vice-Rector, highlighted and expressed her gratitude for the participation of the speakers and guests at the event:
“To those who shared their experiences today, thank you for making your work visible, for your willingness to innovate, and for investing your time, much of which is also family time. Thank you for being here and for allowing professors, academic peers, and guests to share these experiences with you”.
Mónica Higuera Rueda, a graduate in Spanish Language and a special guest, reflected on her experience at the event:
“Sharing with professors the experiences that have helped us as educators is wonderful. From my connection with teaching, I hope that every day we can broaden our awareness of how to support our students and turn our daily responsibilities into an opportunity for learning”.
The event also focused on three essential elements: critical thinking, human interaction, and ethical responsibility as educators. In this context, the incorporation of ICT is presented not only as a support tool, but also as an opportunity to reflect on new possibilities for teaching and learning.
