At the central campus of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), the first Cultural Committee for the 2025 term was held, with the active participation of the new representatives of the university community. The meeting took place in the meeting room of the Library and was attended by the three new representatives of professors and administrative staff of the campus, as well as the new student representative of the regional offices.
This Culture Committee, led by the UIS Cultural Direction, is a fundamental instance for the collective construction of proposals that promote the strengthening of institutional identity and the recognition of cultural diversity. From this space, it seeks to consolidate a cultural agenda that reflects the multiple voices, knowledge and expressions of the different actors of the university community.
For Paola Juliana Costo, Director of Culture UIS “is a committee that is composed of several academic-administrative units that contribute in a significant way to the construction that we have been doing from the Cultural Direction in favor of culture, heritage and diversity that we have in the Universidad Industrial de Santander”.

During the session, strategic lines were discussed for the promotion of initiatives that integrate local, regional and global cultures, fostering intercultural dialogue and the active participation of all the different strata. The Cultural Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to the creation of conditions that allow the development of a living, inclusive and constantly changing culture.
“The Cultural Committee is important for the UIS Barbosa campus because it has always been thought that the cultures that are born here on the central campus and their expressions should be taken to the different campuses and shared,” said Professor Fernando Lagos Fajardo, faculty representative on the UIS Cultural Committee.
By participating in this committee, the UIS reaffirms its role as a scenario open to reflection, creation and cultural action for the benefit of its entire academic community.
