A historic event is being experienced at the Universidad Industrial de Santander with the beginning of classes of the first cohort of the Master’s Degree in Sports Talent Development, research mode, the postgraduate program created last year by the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

This program, being research type, allows students to be full time at the University and thus share closely with professors and understand the different needs of sports training in real situations.

Edwin Yesid Jiménez and Santiago Arenas are the two young men who started with this training at UIS, thus beginning their dream of becoming graduates of the institution in a few years.

“I decided to enroll in the master’s program because it is a dream for me and a personal goal to improve myself academically. My family has always supported me even with great economic difficulties and for me being here is a dream, I am proud to be a UIS student,” said Jimenez.

The purpose of the Master’s Degree in Sports Talent Development, research modality, is to train highly qualified researchers with tools in the scientific method who can design solutions to daily problems and thus contribute to the growth of sports in Bucaramanga and the region.

“The start of the program is a fact that fills us with great joy since it reflects the effort made by a group of professionals interested in providing young people involved in sports with research tools and contributing to the solution of problems through the scientific method,” said Jorge Enrique Buitrago Espitia, professor of the Department of Physical Education and Sports.

Sports training; anatomical, physiological and biochemical variations; information and communication technologies applied to sports; sports and society; and sports management and administration are the lines of research of the postgraduate program.
