The Women’s Indoor Soccer Team was champion of the Zonal Phase of the Ascun University Games by winning their three matches and thus qualified directly to the National, which will take place in Bucaramanga in October.
“The happiness is immense, it has been our goal all year and we are happy that it is direct quota to the National, it is always a pride to represent the UIS,” said Daniela Cáceres, futsal player.
The team coached by Diego Ordóñez beat Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB), Unidades Tecnológicas de Santander (UTS) and Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga (Unab) on their way to becoming the Zonal champions.

The weekend also counted with the outstanding participation of the Table Tennis Team. “A lot of excitement, a lot of encouragement because as a University athlete, one focuses a lot on these Games. It is the beginning of the year, it is a pleasure to continue advancing and that gives excitement and hope, besides it is my last Ascun”, said Maria Paula Orduz.

This National Team is directed by Juan Pablo Bernal and will also have male representation in the Regional in Tunja with the intention of achieving more quotas for the National. In recent years it has excelled by winning medals in Cali 2022 (silver), Bogota 2023 (gold) and Pereira 2024 (bronze).
