Within the framework of the agreements signed between the National Government and labor unions, formalized through Decree 391 of 2025, and in accordance with the provisions of Agreement No. 022 of 2026 issued by the Superior Council, the Academic Council of the Industrial University of Santander reports progress related to the recognition and dignification of teaching work, through the appointment of adjunct (hourly) and temporary faculty with the aim of ensuring continuity.

On April 17, the Superior Council approved Agreement No. 022 of 2026, which regulates the selection process for filling faculty positions. This instrument establishes clear criteria and guarantees transparent and equitable procedures, based on academic merit and recognition of the teaching role. It also defines a legal framework that highlights the importance of faculty members—particularly those serving as adjunct and temporary lecturers—in the sustainability and development of the public university project.

In implementation of the provisions set by the Superior Council in the aforementioned agreement, on April 21 the Academic Council endorsed the opening of the call for applications to fill thirteen (13) faculty positions. The process is led by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the terms of the call can be consulted on the institutional website. It is noted that applications will be open starting Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

These decisions represent progress for the University and stem from dialogue and joint work between the University Professors’ Union (ASPU-UIS chapter) and the Institution. The work carried out stands out as an exercise in participation that strengthens university governance, and the outcome is regarded as a step toward consolidating a more stable faculty body, in line with the purpose of the aforementioned decree.
