The Sounds for Peacebuilding Program, PSCP, and the Industrial University of Santander, UIS, join the VII Symphonic Band Festival of Sabana de Torres to celebrate the 51 years of life of the municipality with a day full of culture, music and art.
With a program that includes parades, workshops, master classes and the concert of Sounds for the Construction of Peace, this Friday, November 29, Sabaneros will enjoy the rhythm of the music of more than 350 musicians from the region, who will show off their talent in this event that promises to be one of the highlights of the year, as it will bring together great local and regional artists in a night that will pay tribute to the city, its people and its history.
The children, adolescents and young people from the educational establishments that are part of the Sounds for Peace Building Program and the UIS in the east of the country, who come from the municipalities of Zapatoca, San Gil, San Vicente de Chucurí, Cáchira and Sabana de Torres with musical proposals achieved during the training process that took place this year in the implementation of the Program, will join the Festival.
Luis Cipriano Díaz Lemus, director of the Institute of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Sabana de Torres, Indercultsa, and organizer of the event commented that both the Symphonic Band Festival and the Concert of Sounds for the Construction of Peace, “seek not only to highlight the musical talent of the region, but also to strengthen the sense of identity and cultural unity”.
In this edition the Festival will feature the participation of seven great bands, among which stand out the Symphonic Band of the Universidad Industrial de Santander and the Santander Symphonic Band, directed by maestro Robert Martínez Blanco, Territorial Manager of Node 18 of the PSCP-UIS.
The Mayor of Sabana de Torres, Darío Buchenicow Caballero Chiquillo expressed his enthusiasm for the celebration, because “this Festival not only commemorates our anniversary, but it is also a sample of the joint effort to promote culture and peace through music. We hope that everyone will join us in this unforgettable celebration.
A great ensemble with all the invited artists is planned for the closing of the event. The activities that make up the Festival will take place from 7:00 a.m. at the Sabana de Torres Children’s Park with free admission.
