Professor Boris Eduardo Vesga Angarita, MD. Specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Master in Hemodynamics and Cardiovascular Interventionism, and Full Professor, with 30 years of experience in undergraduate and postgraduate medical training, participated as a lecturer in the “XIV International Symposium of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery”, held in Cartagena, from March 20 to 22, 2025.
During his intervention, Dr. Boris presented cardiovascular imaging in MINOCA (myocardial infarction without non-obstructive coronary artery disease). Acute myocardial infarction that at the time of coronary arthrography shows that there is no obstruction due to severe arteriosclerotic disease, known as MINOCA, is a challenge for diagnosis and subsequent treatment given the association with worse clinical outcomes such as mortality.
This conference presented the usefulness of imaging by intravascular ultrasound catheters and optical coherence tomography, in order to identify the presence or absence of atherosclerosis and high-risk coronary lesions.
The event discussed clinical aspects and support with intravascular coronary circulation imaging, the use of cardiac resonance, treatment and prognosis.
