72 students of the Escuela Normal Superior Francisco de Paula Santander of the municipality of Malaga, received their certificate of completion of the course offered by the Language Institute of the Universidad Industrial de Santander in partnership with the Governor’s Office and the Chamber of Commerce.
This achievement is part of the project “Strengthening communication skills in English through bilingual games”, an initiative focused on initial education, teacher training, exchange of knowledge and communication skills in official educational institutions of Santander.
It is an inter-institutional cooperation project where efforts are joined to promote bilingualism in the Department.
In this regard, the rector of the Escuela Normal Superior Francisco de Paula Santander, Teresa Moreno, said that this agreement executed in articulation by several institutions, is a great support and at the same time a challenge to further enhance the mastery of a second language in the institution.
“It is a privilege for us to be part of this agreement because only 2 institutions were selected in the department. We hope that in 2025 we can continue with this strategy and thus impact the entire student community”.
María Angélica Arenas Paredes, manager of the bilingualism project, accompanied the graduation ceremony. The students received their high school diploma and the certificate of completion of the course of teaching foreign language (English) through ICT.
“This is a cooperation agreement between the Government of Santander, the Chamber of Commerce and the UIS Language Institute. In total there were 34 educational institutions focused on the diagnostic axis throughout the department. We thank the directors of the Normal for their commitment, the students for their dedication and the UIS Malaga Headquarters for their support in this process,” said Maria Angelica.
For her part, Liliana Sofia Torres Ortega, student of the Normal and the bilingualism course, highlighted the experience to strengthen the mastery of a second language.
“Thanks to those who make these processes possible because as students we learn a lot and we know that currently speaking a second language such as English is very important and opens doors in different scenarios”.
Directors of the agreement, teachers and students highlighted the importance of these programs in Santander that promote bilingualism.
