The Institute of Regional Projection and Distance Education (IPRED) of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), students and alumni of the program in Plastic Arts invite to the opening of the exhibition “Flor es ser”, an artistic exhibition that celebrates human flourishing in all its dimensions. The event will take place next Friday, July 4 at 6:30 p.m., at the Museo de Bellas Artes Casa de la Cultura Custodio García Rovira.
The exhibition, under the direction of Lizeth Mariana Pineda and Mery Camila Galvis, and curated by B. Marcell Bohórquez Gualdrón, known as “El Narrador de Salem”, promises an enriching opening night. Various artistic expressions such as music, poetry and visual arts will be merged with the aim of enhancing the cultural environment of Santander and offering a true celebration of art.
A Garden of Creation and Growth
“Flor es ser” will be available to the public from July 4 through July 25. Visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 m, and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 m.
The curator, B. Marcell Bohórquez Gualdrón, describes the exhibition as a refuge for artists in their process of growth, who, like flowers, seek to show their essence and bloom in an environment that welcomes and nurtures them. In his words, “the human being possesses an innate capacity to bloom in multiple dimensions. From the spiritual to the intellectual, this transformation manifests itself in love, emotions and the search for knowledge”.

The exhibition is inspired by various philosophies that address the concept of blossoming. From Jainism, which highlights love and the beauty of human connections, especially in youth, to Tibetan Buddhism, which associates this process with the rising of the sun, symbolizing clarity and revelation. Indian history, in turn, brings the metaphor of the lotus, blooming in murky waters, representing enlightenment and connection to life despite obstacles.
Each work on display becomes a visual testimony of this personal growth. Through the use of color, form and the exploration of personal and universal themes, the artists invite viewers to reflect on their own cycles of change and transformation.
“Flower is Being” celebrates not only the art itself, but also the artist’s journey, a path filled with ups and downs, learning and discovery. It is an open invitation to appreciate blossoming in its various manifestations and to recognize the beauty of being in all its complexity and depth.
