After an analysis exercise of the proposals for modification of the General Statute conceived from the inputs and contributions presented by the different strata, the UIS Superior Council has prepared a reform proposal that brings together these adjustment initiatives and puts it to the consideration of the university community to broaden the discussion on this issue of great institutional interest.
“The councilors through deliberative processes have concluded in a first proposal for the reform of the first six chapters of the Statute, where we highlight the reform of the sixth chapter, which has to do with the appointment of the rector of the Universidad Industrial de Santander, There the councilors have tried to make an exercise of democratization and linkage of consultations, a little stronger than what had been operating as a sign of commitment and democracy within the university and strengthening of university autonomy,” said Juan Carlos Bolivar, delegate of the Ministry of Education to the Superior Council of the UIS.
The document corresponding to this proposed Agreement is already published in the portal https://reforma.uis.edu.co in order to receive observations, comments and contributions, prior to the final discussion that this project will have within the Council. “What is going to be proposed in terms of the changes we have approved will be validated by the university community, so that it can be fed back, improved, overcome, changed, based on what the university community proposes”, said the representative of the professors, Nectalí Ariza.

The councilors emphasized that this project corresponds to a proposal that must undergo a process of socialization with the university community to continue its process in the highest university governing body; “for this we call on the university community to pronounce itself, to meet, to debate and make deliberations on this modification of the General Statute so that we in the next session of the University Superior Council, with these appreciations that the university community gives us, we can finally move forward in this reform”.
Contributions from the university community to enrich this draft agreement will be received until next Thursday, March 6.
