
At the Scientific Complex for Health and Life Sciences Research, the Department of Pathology of the School of Medicine held a discussion entitled “Refresher Course on Urinary Pathology,” aimed at residents, professors, graduates, and health professionals.
This training activity was held with the aim of strengthening continuing academic education in the specialty. The activity featured the participation of Dr. Silvia Margarita García Acuña, a renowned specialist in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology, who presented a comprehensive update on the main advances in the histopathological diagnosis of urological lesions through two lectures entitled:
1- Urothelial Neoplasms, Diagnostic Keys.
2- A Practical Approach to the Diagnosis of Epithelial Renal Tumors.
During the session, topics such as the following were addressed:
-New diagnostic criteria in urinary pathology.
-Current challenges in the histological interpretation of renal and urothelial lesions.
-The importance of clinical-pathological correlation and the use of complementary tools such as immunohistochemistry and molecular techniques. -Update on macroscopic processing
The space allowed for direct interaction between participants and the guest lecturer, facilitating case discussions, clarifying doubts, and strengthening diagnostic skills.
