Committed to life: UISALUD raises awareness of birth defects and their prevention

Graphic piece with important information about congenital defects.

In order to raise awareness about the importance of maternal and child health, the Specialized Health Unit of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UISALUD) joins the commemoration of World Birth Defects Day, a date that highlights the need to strengthen prevention and access to quality medical care to reduce the incidence of these anomalies.

According to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), every year around 8 million children are born with congenital defects in the world, and this is one of the main causes of neonatal mortality, with an impact of 10% in newborn deaths. Given this reality, experts emphasize that timely access to prenatal check-ups and specialized health services can significantly improve the quality of life of newborns.

Early detection and timely access to quality medical services can significantly reduce these cases and improve the quality of life of affected children. In this context, UISALUD invites its users to take advantage of the services available in the Health Promotion and Maintenance Routes, where they can receive specialized guidance and accompaniment. To schedule an appointment with the nursing service, interested parties can call: 6340000 ext.: 4110 – 4102 – 4210 – 4101.

Together we can reduce risks and save lives.
