The magic of radio came alive in vibrant fashion at the radio stations of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS). Fourth-grade students from the Instituto Técnico Nacional de Comercio dove into the fascinating world of Paidópolis, an educational initiative that opened the doors of radio to them and allowed them to explore new horizons of knowledge and creativity.
Paidópolis is not just a radio program; it’s a sound adventure where children, with voices full of enthusiasm and curiosity, transform microphones into a space of learning. On this occasion, the chosen theme was Brazilian culture—a journey through its language, music, and traditions that left an unforgettable impression on the young narrators.
With excitement, Matías Herrera, one of the participating students, used his clear and confident voice to invite other children to join this unique experience, where one not only learns about other countries but also develops valuable life skills. “It teaches us different languages and how to de-stress,” he said, making it clear that the program is a blend of fun and learning.

Yacqueline Arenas Galván, the teacher guiding these students, highlighted the positive impact Paidópolis has on them. “It’s incredible to be part of this radio program, because the children learn about the cultural diversity of different countries. It’s a chance for them to express themselves and actively participate as radio actors,” she proudly stated. For the children, being part of this project is not just another class; it’s a space where they can shine. “Everyone wants to be the main character,” she said with a laugh, describing the children’s great enthusiasm every time they prepare for a recording.
“What I liked most about this experience was being able to participate and learn about Brazil,” said Matías Sepúlveda, who was thrilled with what he learned during the recordings. The chance to learn Portuguese, discover samba, and understand more about Brazil’s rich culture left him feeling satisfied and excited.

Meanwhile, María Alejandra Porras, another student who took part in the experience, shared her enthusiasm: “The best part was that we didn’t have to do it out of obligation—we did it because we wanted to,” she said sincerely, expressing what she enjoyed most about the program. For her, the most fascinating part was learning new words in Portuguese, like greetings, how to say her name, and even talking about Brazil’s typical food. “I learned how to say my name in Portuguese and what the traditional food of Brazil is called,” she shared joyfully.

The session was undoubtedly a reflection of what Paidópolis means to these children: a space to grow, to explore other cultures, and most importantly, to learn how to express themselves in new ways. The UIS radio microphones became the perfect stage for the voices of the future to rise, showing that in a world full of possibilities, every child has a story to tell.
How exciting it is to see how the children of the Instituto Técnico Nacional de Comercio show us that radio is not just about technology, but about opening doors to an infinite universe of knowledge and creativity!
