The Industrial University of Santander (UIS), through its Cultural Directorate, invites pianists from all over Colombia to participate in the 22nd edition of the National Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious musical contests in the country. The call for applications is open until Friday, May 30, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
This competition is one of the most representative cultural events organized by UIS, aimed at identifying, promoting, and strengthening national piano talent, thus contributing to the cultural development of the country.
“We especially invite you to take part in the UIS National Piano Competition, a space designed and organized to celebrate piano talent from across the country. This is an open platform for different levels and ages, and it is an excellent opportunity to grow artistically, connect with other musicians, and showcase your talent before a high-level jury,” said Paula Juliana Costo Preciado, Cultural Director of UIS.
Competition Categories
Professional Category
Participants must present a different repertoire for each stage of the competition and submit a video between 10 and 15 minutes in length, unedited between pieces, along with PDF scores with numbered measures and high-resolution artistic photographs.
Prizes:
- First place: Travel grant of $10,000,000 COP, participation in the 2026 UIS International Piano Festival, and a gala concert in another concert hall in Colombia.
- Second place: Travel grant of $5,000,000 COP.
- Third place: Travel grant of $3,000,000 COP.
The in-person presentation for this category will take place on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Children and Youth Category
Applicants must present a different repertoire for each stage, performed from memory, and submit a video between 5 and 8 minutes, along with full scores and photographs.
Prizes:
- First place: Invitation to participate in the 2026 UIS International Piano Festival, a collection of original scores, and a gift voucher.
- Second and third place: A collection of original scores and a gift voucher.
The general meeting and master class for this category will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
Jury and Organization
The jury will be composed of musicians with recognized experience and professional standing, whose names will be announced in the semifinal stage. All deliberations will be private, and the jury’s decision will be final. The event is coordinated by the Cultural Directorate of UIS.
