As part of its commitment to promote reading and learning in the children’s community, the Alejandro Galvis Galvis Public Library, attached to the UIS Barrancabermeja Campus, delivered educational and didactic stories to children in the transition and primary grades of institutions such as the José Antonio Galán School, the Instituto Técnico Superior de Comercio – Campus B and the Ciudadela Educativa del Magdalena Medio – Campus B.
The copies delivered, a total of 576, were received by the library after having been a beneficiary of the call Leer es mi Cuento en la Biblioteca – version 2024, promoted by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge and the National Library of Colombia.
“This book giveaway is a great opportunity to bring children closer to the world of reading and strengthen their comprehension and creativity skills. Thanks to initiatives like this, we can continue to promote the love of books and contribute to the educational development of our community. We want each child to see the library as a space of discovery and constant learning,” said Natalia Yara, coordinator of the Alejandro Galvis Galvis Public Library, after the delivery.
This initiative is developed within the framework of the National Reading, Orality and Library Plan (PNLEOB), which seeks to promote the habit of reading aloud, encouraging comprehension and a taste for books from an early age.

“Receiving these stories is a great motivation for our students. Reading aloud not only improves their comprehension and vocabulary, but also awakens their imagination and creativity. We thank the library for this initiative, which will undoubtedly enrich the learning process of our children”, expressed Katherine Infante, teacher at Instituto Técnico Superior de Comercio – Sede B.
With this action, the Alejandro Galvis Galvis Public Library reaffirms its commitment to education and access to culture in Barrancabermeja, providing children with tools to strengthen their academic and personal development through reading.
