The management report as of September 30, 2026, and the analysis of strategies related to high-cost healthcare were among the key topics discussed during a session of the UISALUD Board. During the meeting, participants addressed issues affecting the Unit’s operations and proposed actions to strengthen communication with users and promote more appropriate use of healthcare services.
One of the main items was the presentation of a reimbursement claim file related to high-cost healthcare, within the framework of the powers granted to the Health Unit and the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) through Agreement 062 of the Superior Council, approved at its previous Friday session. This provision authorized UISALUD to submit the file to its Board for consideration.
Santiago Ramírez Segura, Director of UISALUD, emphasized the importance of these spaces for dialogue and analysis, which bring together the University’s rector and representatives of different university community groups, including users, professors, and pensioners.
“This space, in which Board members, the rector, and guests participate, is always highly productive in presenting ideas, situations, and factors that, in one way or another, positively or negatively affect the delivery of healthcare services,” Ramírez Segura stated.
According to the director, contributions from Board members help identify circumstances affecting the Unit’s operations, exchange perspectives, and develop strategies to guide its work while taking users’ needs and expectations into account.

UISALUD to Strengthen Communication with Its Users
Among the actions proposed during the session was the need to strengthen institutional communication through coordinated efforts with the Directorate of Human Talent Management (DGTH). The initiative includes identifying specific groups of users to provide clearer, more relevant information about health risk management, the Unit’s operations, and disease care.
The goal is to help users better understand the services available, become more familiar with care processes, and gain the information they need to make appropriate use of healthcare resources and services.
Regarding this commitment, Ramírez Segura explained that UISALUD will work closely with the DGTH to reach different groups within its user community and address issues related to prevention, healthcare, and the appropriate use of services.
“What can I do as a user of the Unit to make better use of healthcare services?” the director asked, highlighting one of the key questions that will guide this communication strategy.
Through its review of management progress and the analysis of challenges associated with high-cost healthcare, the UISALUD Board continues to provide a forum for examining strategic issues and proposing actions aimed at strengthening the Unit’s operations and its relationship with users.
