Dr. Rosendo Castellanos

Some careers are measured in years, while others are recognized for the lives they transform. That of Dr. Rosendo Castellanos, a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the School of Medicine, embodies both: more than four decades dedicated to teaching, medical knowledge, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the training of new generations of healthcare professionals.

Over the years, his commitment to teaching and his passion for medicine have extended far beyond classrooms, hospitals, and academic settings, as evidenced by the hundreds of doctors and specialists who found in him not only a teacher but also a model of excellence, humanity, and a dedication to service.

Today, his colleagues, students, and residents came together to honor his invaluable career and express their gratitude for a life dedicated to teaching, guiding, and supporting others. This recognition celebrates not only his contributions to academic and medical advancement but also the generosity, warmth, and commitment with which he has helped shape the history of the UIS family.

The rector of this institution, Professor Hernán Porras Díaz, joined in this tribute, highlighting Dr. Castellanos’s more than 40-year career, his excellence in teaching, and his invaluable contribution to the training of hundreds of physicians and specialists in Internal Medicine. He also emphasized that Dr. Castellanos’s legacy extends far beyond the knowledge he has shared: it lives on in every professional he has trained and in every patient who has benefited from his teaching.

“There are teachers whose impact extends far beyond the classroom, because along with their knowledge, they give the best of themselves. You are one of them. Today, as you deliver your final master class as a professor at the School of Medicine, we wish to express our deep gratitude for a life dedicated to teaching, guiding, and training with excellence and compassion,” read the dean’s message.
