The Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) has completed the selection process for its Student Housing Call. A total of 18 students from different municipalities across the country were selected to benefit from the housing support options offered for the second academic semester of 2026.
Of the 18 selected students, five men will be accommodated in the student residences at the Central Campus, eight women will stay in the residences located in downtown Bucaramanga (Calle 39 and Carrera 20), and five additional women will receive a living allowance.
The call was aimed at students whose place of origin and family residence are outside Bucaramanga and its metropolitan area. The initiative is part of the University’s institutional strategies to create conditions that support student retention and foster a positive university experience.
Students from Different Regions
The five students selected for the student residences at the Central Campus are enrolled in programs in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Microbiology, Bioanalysis, and Philosophy. They are between their third and sixth academic levels and come from the municipalities of San Gil, Lebrija, Chiquinquirá, San Diego, and Cesar.
Meanwhile, the eight female students selected for the downtown student residences are enrolled in Social Work, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Economics, Industrial Design, Law, and Chemistry programs, ranging from the third to the seventh academic level. The students come from Aguachica, Barrancabermeja, Cartagena, Aratoca, San Vicente del Caguán, Carmen de Bolívar, and Florián.
Support for Student Retention
The selection process consisted of several stages. Following an initial verification of eligibility requirements, applicants completed psychometric assessments and underwent a comprehensive evaluation of their individual circumstances. During the final stage, factors such as vulnerability, support networks, and socioeconomic conditions were taken into consideration.
UIS continues to strengthen its student support strategies for those who require additional assistance to pursue their professional education and remain at the University.
