‘Párchate en la U’: A Space for Students to Talk, Learn and Connect

‘Párchate en la U’ will be the new initiative launched by Student Wellbeing for the UIS community.

With the aim of creating spaces for entertainment, conversation and learning, UIS Student Wellbeing is developing the initiative ‘Párchate en la U’, a weekly proposal featuring a variety of topics for members of the student community to explore and discuss together.

The sessions will take place every Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Academic Excellence System (SEA) Room, located on the third floor of the Student Wellbeing Building. The activities will be led by Laura Briceño, a student in the UIS Bachelor’s Degree in Literature program.

The initiative is part of the preventive program UIS ES UNO, which seeks to bring students from different academic programs together through conversations on topics related to music, film, art, poetry, history and paranormal cases. The program promotes a space where students can exchange knowledge, opinions and experiences beyond the classroom.

A Different Perspective on Music

For this Thursday, September 10, ‘Párchate en la U’ will explore the story behind one of the most recognized songs in salsa music and in the repertoire of Joe Arroyo: No le pegue a la negra.

During the session, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the history behind the composition and explore, from a cultural and historical perspective, the elements that are part of this iconic song.

“The Universidad Industrial de Santander, through Student Wellbeing, invites the entire student community to participate in ‘Párchate en la U’, a space created to talk about interesting topics and build connections within the University,” highlighted Laura Briceño, a student in the UIS Bachelor’s Degree in Literature program.

If you are a student who is still building your circle of friends, or simply looking for a different space to share and discuss interesting topics with other students, these weekly sessions are for you.
