Professor Carolina Ramírez Ramírez, affiliated with the School of Physical Therapy at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) and a member of the Movement, Harmony, and Life (MAV) Research Group, participated as a speaker at the 42nd ASOCIMANO National Congress and the 15th ASCOTEMA National Congress, held recently in Bucaramanga.
This conference established itself as an important academic forum for scientific updates and the exchange of knowledge regarding surgery and rehabilitation of the hand and upper extremity. The event brought together nearly 400 healthcare professionals, including hand surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, occupational therapists, specialists, and residents, who participated in lectures and continuing education workshops.
At the event, Professor Carolina Ramírez presented the lecture “Musculoskeletal Ultrasound as a Tool for Muscle Re-education in Upper Limb Rehabilitation,” in which she discussed the state-of-the-art use of musculoskeletal ultrasound as a visual biofeedback tool.
This technology allows patients to observe their muscles’ responses while performing various tasks and exercises, thereby promoting motor learning processes and contributing to the rehabilitation of individuals with upper limb impairments.
Professor Ramírez’s participation highlights the contribution of the UIS and the School of Physical Therapy to national forums for professional development and scientific discussion, while also strengthening the exchange of knowledge and experiences with professionals and specialists from various disciplines related to the care and rehabilitation of hand and upper limb conditions.
