With a day filled with physical activity, team-building, and recreation, the first-year students at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) wrapped up Orientation Week 2026-2. The event, organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, brought together the new members of the university community at various stations featuring games, physical challenges, sports activities, and recreational games, all in an atmosphere enlivened by music and the participants’ enthusiasm.
“I think it’s an incredible experience because, in addition to exercising, we can socialize, meet new classmates, and enjoy a space for wholesome fun,” said Luis España, a systems engineering student.
Attendees noted that this event not only provided a chance to relax before classes began, but also allowed them to explore the university’s sports facilities and strengthen their bonds with their classmates.
“The university’s sports fields are very beautiful and offer a wide variety of spaces. They’re very well maintained, and that motivates us to play the sports we love most,” said Sofía Delgado, an electrical engineering student.
The students also expressed their appreciation for the activities held during Orientation Week, noting that they provided essential information to help them adapt to university life and learn about the services and opportunities the university offers from day one.
“Orientation Week was excellent. I really liked the activities and the time we spent with the faculty. Attending was very important because it allowed us to get to know the university better and begin this process with the necessary information,” said Vanessa Becerra, an Artificial Intelligence Engineering student.
This sports event marked the conclusion of a week designed to help new students adjust to university life. Starting next Monday, August 3, the UIS main campus will reopen its doors to kick off the 2026-2 academic year, with thousands of students continuing to build their life plans from the institution’s classrooms.
