With music, tradition, and talent, the Tuna UIS won three national awards

The music, tradition, and pride of Santander took center stage in La Vega, Cundinamarca, where the Tuna of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) brought honor to the UIS and the department during the 30th Departmental Tuna Festival 2026.

More than just an artistic performance, the event represented an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood that characterize the Tuna movement, share experiences with national and international groups, and deepen understanding of the history, music, and customs that keep this cultural tradition alive.

During the festival, the UIS Tuna took part in various scheduled activities, including the private performance, the opening parade, the street performance, and the main performance. In each presentation, its members demonstrated the hard work, dedication, and preparation that have established the group as one of the region’s most prominent representatives.

Among the pieces performed, “Tenías Razón”—presented as a tribute to the renowned Colombian singer and composer Yeison Jiménez—and “Fiesta de Tambores” stood out; the latter played a significant role in the group’s recognition as the festival’s Best Percussion Ensemble.

The group’s talent was also recognized with First Place in Category B and the award for Best Tambourine Performance—honors that reflect the commitment, discipline, and teamwork of those who represented Tuna UIS on this important cultural stage.

Behind these achievements lies a collective effort that extends beyond those who were on stage. The group highlighted the support of the members who accompanied the preparation process from afar, as well as the ongoing support of the parents and everyone who made this experience possible.

The awards received not only celebrate Tuna UIS’s musical talent but also reaffirm its commitment to promoting culture, university tradition, and the identity of Santander. Each award represents the result of a collaborative effort and serves as motivation to continue bringing the music and spirit of the Tuna to new venues both within and outside the country.
