The academic excellence of the Industrial Design program at the Industrial University of Santander (UIS) has once again been demonstrated. According to the results of the 2025-2 Saber Pro examinations, the program ranked second nationwide among design programs in Colombia, surpassed only by the National University of Colombia.
A total of 53 UIS students from the program took the exam, achieving an overall average score of 178.
“This achievement is a source of pride not only for the school, but also for the Faculty of Physical-Mechanical Engineering and the entire institution,” said Luis Eduardo Bautista, Director of the Industrial Design School.
According to Bautista, these results demonstrate the quality of the students and the institution’s commitment to educating highly competent professionals.
For her part, Melisa Barrera, representative of the Undergraduate School Council for the Industrial Design School, stated that the results reaffirm the commitment of both students and faculty members in achieving these accomplishments.
From the students’ perspective, the results are also a cause for celebration. As Melisa Barrera highlighted, “We are very proud of our classmates and of all the work carried out within the school. These results demonstrate the high level of learning and the quality of the education we receive to successfully face the professional world.”
Professor Bautista emphasized that this recognition is the result of an academic transformation process that the school has been developing for more than a decade through the joint efforts of faculty and students. As part of this evolution, the curriculum was recently updated to respond more effectively to industry needs and to national and international trends in industrial design.
“The Saber Pro results are evidence that we are on the right track. They are also reflected in the recognition and awards received by our graduates, who continue to enhance the reputation of UIS both nationally and internationally,” Bautista added.
