UIS Professor Participated in Symposium in Brazil on Climate and Agricultural Resilience

UIS professor participated in symposium in Brazil, where Nelson Rodríguez López represented Universidad Industrial de Santander and delivered a keynote presentation on regenerative agriculture, crop management, and climate change adaptation.

Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) strengthened its international academic presence through its participation in the First International Symposium on Climate and Agricultural Resilience, held in Rio Verde, Goiás, Brazil. The event brought together researchers, academics, and experts from different countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture in the context of climate change.

The University was represented by Professor Nelson Rodríguez López, Ph.D. in Plant Physiology and faculty member of the School of Biology within the Faculty of Sciences, who participated as an invited speaker at the symposium.

During the event, Professor Rodríguez López delivered the presentation “Ecophysiological Approach for the Management of Crops in Regenerative Agriculture and Climate Change.” His lecture focused on strategies to improve crop adaptation to changing environmental conditions through regenerative agriculture practices and ecophysiological approaches.

The presentation highlighted the importance of integrating scientific knowledge into agricultural management systems to strengthen crop resilience, sustainability, and productivity under increasingly challenging climate conditions.

The symposium also featured internationally recognized researchers, including Vara Prasad from Kansas State University (USA), Carl Bernacchi from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (USA), Amanda Cardoso from the University of North Carolina (USA), Fábio Da Matta from the Federal University of Viçosa (Brazil), and Álvaro Gaitán from Cenicafé (Colombia), among other distinguished experts.

International Cooperation for Climate and Agricultural Resilience

The participation of UIS in this international academic forum reaffirmed the University’s commitment to the generation and dissemination of high-impact scientific knowledge addressing global challenges related to climate change, agricultural sustainability, and food security.

Likewise, the event provided valuable opportunities to strengthen international academic and research networks, fostering collaboration among institutions and promoting scientific initiatives aimed at building more resilient agricultural systems worldwide.
