As the academic semester reaches its final stretch, the Library of the Industrial University of Santander announced the expansion of its services with 24-hour continuous operation, from Saturday, May 23, through Saturday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m., with the aim of supporting students during the last week of classes and final exams.
The strategy seeks to provide the student community with a safe, comfortable space and ongoing academic support, especially during nighttime hours, when preparation for exams and final assignments intensifies.
The director of the UIS Library, Sonia Cristina Gamboa, explained that during these days students will have access to different support services focused on well-being and academic strengthening.

“We hope to provide coverage throughout the final week of classes and semester evaluations. We invite everyone to take care of the space, make the most of it, and coexist collaboratively,” she said.
Among the planned initiatives is a nighttime coffee station. In addition, the “Reset” space will be available, an initiative developed in partnership with the Listening Center under the slogan: “Breathe, regulate, and continue,” aimed at offering wellness breaks and academic stress management support.
During the daytime, the library will operate normally in all its areas. At night, the first floor and basement will remain open, featuring air conditioning, study areas, and access to various library services.
As part of the academic support strategy, tutors from the SEA Library program will offer extended service hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., from Monday, May 25, to Friday, May 29.

The program’s academic coordinator, Geyson Uribe, indicated that students will be able to receive tutoring in subjects such as Calculus, Algebra, Physics, Chemistry, Descriptive Geometry, and English.
“Students do not need to schedule an appointment. They simply need to approach the tutors directly if they have any questions or concerns,” he explained.
English tutoring sessions will take place in Room 403 of the Language Institute, while the other subjects will be available in the designated library spaces.
The initiative has been well received by students. Juan Pablo Rueda, a Systems Engineering student, highlighted the importance of these spaces for reinforcing knowledge and resolving academic questions.
“I think it’s fantastic because you can come and ask about anything, from basic concepts to much more complex topics, and the tutors are incredibly helpful. I’ve been using these spaces since my second semester, and they have truly helped me a lot,” he stated.

With this strategy, UIS strengthens its commitment to comprehensive well-being, student retention, and academic support during one of the most demanding periods for the university community.
