The Academic Excellence System (SEA) of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) has assigned 11 tutors to accompany students enrolled in the Intersemester Courses. The tutorials take place in room 503 of the Camilo Torres building and on the second floor of the Central Library, and will be available until July 18.
Subjects attended include Linear Algebra I, Calculus I, II and III, Differential Equations, among others.
“The SEA Midas program maintains the same methodology applied during the academic semester, with the accompaniment of tutors who stand out for their high academic performance, with averages above 4.2,” explained Esperanza Aguilar, coordinator of the program.
The tutors’ work focuses on resolving doubts, clarifying concepts and reinforcing content, with the aim of improving students’ academic performance.
“We work directly with the exercises and questions that the students bring. This program is very enriching; I have seen progress in those who attend and most of them are grateful, which gives me great satisfaction,” said Pedro Rueda, SEA tutor.

As a complement, virtual spaces have been implemented to guarantee access to tutoring on holidays or for students who live far from campus.
“During holidays we hold virtual sessions to resolve doubts. This modality has been very useful for those who cannot attend in person,” added Vanesa González, also an SEA tutor.
Students have highlighted the quality and relevance of the tutorials, as well as the willingness and pedagogical clarity of the tutors.
“Studying among peers is not the same as attending a tutorial. Here there are more opportunities to learn and prepare better for exams,” said Keyner Borjas, a Systems Engineering student.
“The tutors are always willing to help us. The atmosphere is respectful and every concern is clearly addressed,” said Luna Rivero, a Chemical Engineering student.
