After a period of inactivity due to technical failures in its main equipment, the Scanning Electron Microscopy Laboratory (SEM), located at the Guatiguará Technology Park, has officially reactivated its services.

This laboratory, which is part of the Central Laboratories of the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), is a key space for research, innovation and technology transfer. Equipped with a QUANTA FEG 650 microscope from ThermoFisher, the laboratory plays a fundamental role in supporting scientific projects, both within the university community and with external users, in the characterization and observation of microscopic level solid samples of metals, ceramics, among others, key to materials science.

The suspension of services was due to technical contingencies that affected the operation of the microscope, generating a considerable impact on the research processes. However, thanks to the acquisition of the necessary spare parts and the intervention of specialized labor, the microscope has been fully reestablished.

For more information on availability of services and analysis requests, interested parties may contact the UIS Central Laboratories directly at labmicroscopia@uis.edu.co.
