Professor Paula Camila Ramírez Muñoz, Physical Therapist, UIS. Master in Epidemiology, UIS. PhD. D. in Physiotherapy from the Federal University of São Carlos, was recently appointed as editor of the journal Salud UIS.
This journal, of continuous publication, in the area of health and related sciences, aims to publish papers with a broad focus on health issues, of general interest and not supra specialized, as well as to be a forum for editorial discussion on relevant issues that occur nationally and internationally and affect health conditions. Article citations have been increasing in recent years, especially in publications in Spanish, which denotes the growing readership in Latin America and Spain. The current actions of the editorial board are aimed at having greater visibility and impact in the future.
“Assuming the position of editor of Salud UIS represents an exciting challenge and a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of a journal in constant evolution. The journal has achieved a good positioning at the national level, thanks to its compliance with the standards required by Publindex, but it is essential to strengthen its presence, visibility and impact at the international level. The main challenge we face is to ensure that the journal meets the rigorous international standards required by databases such as Scopus, PubMed or Web of Science. This implies continuous improvement in editorial processes, scientific quality, publication ethics and bilingual approach. In addition, we must strengthen our global dissemination strategies and address the challenges of the open access model, in order to ensure its long-term sustainability,” said Professor Paula.
