In order to comply with the mission of teaching, research and extension, the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) has excellent bibliographic resources, laboratories, workshops, teaching materials, audiovisual equipment, relevant practice scenarios, computer equipment and information and communication technologies.
Evidence of these results is the score of 4.72 (out of 5.0) given to Factor 11: Academic support resources and physical infrastructure by students, professors, directors, administrators, graduates, employers and the external community, during the self-evaluation process, in view of the renewal of the Institutional Accreditation.
Likewise, among the strengths are the modernization and increase of academic resources during the validity of the present accreditation, as well as the projects implemented to support the realization of academic activities in remote in-person modality due to the pandemic and the adaptation of teaching classrooms for the hybrid modality.
These actions reaffirm the commitment of the UIS to academic excellence and responsiveness. Here are the highlights of the analysis of this factor during the self-evaluation:
The modernization of the Virtual Library, thereby optimizing remote access to bibliographic resources and improving the search system, usability and security features. During the pandemic period, the University made investments for the acquisition of bibliographic material required for subjects in hybrid modality.
The agreements signed with different institutions, among them UNIRED, Consorcio Colombia and Sociedad Colombiana de Matemáticas, to strengthen the available bibliographic resources.
Execution of the project to adapt 100% of the teaching rooms for hybrid operation. There are 483 rooms equipped with high technology: a computer that controls the devices, a monitor, an industrial screen, a webcam, a video conference bar, omnidirectional microphones, a high resolution camera (4k), a set of speakers and remote control.
