UIS Floridablanca hosts the University Fair, which brings together students from public schools

Around 1.800 11th-grade students from public schools in Floridablanca visited the UIS campus in the “Sweet City” to learn about the academic programs available to future high school graduates at different higher education institutions in the region.

The 2025 University Fair is an initiative led by the Floridablanca Mayor’s Office to bring young people closer to the possibilities of accessing higher education. “It’s a good opportunity for us students who are finishing 11th grade because we’re about to graduate, and it gives us support and help in deciding our future career,” said Alberto Parra Delgado, a student at the La Cumbre Technical Institute.

Through a tour of the campus facilities, students from the 16 public schools in Floridablanca took advantage of this day to receive useful information and guidance to help them make the best decision. “I think it’s a great opportunity offered by UIS Floridablanca to create this space and learn about the programs offered by different universities, financing plans, and the most interesting programs,” said Laurent Sofía González, a student at José Elías Puyana School. In turn, Professor Gina Lorena Aguirre, from the La Cumbre Technical Institute, highlighted the motivation of young people from Floridablanca to set themselves the goal of entering the Industrial University of Santander next year and beginning their studies at this institution. “I am a graduate of the UIS and I think about the great benefits of virtually free access and very favorable conditions for socioeconomic strata 1, 2, and 3. We are launching a new campus with the opening of new programs that make it easier for students to continue their professional training in Floridablanca,” she said.

The UIS stand offered personalized attention to each interested student and provided information sheets on undergraduate academic programs and the enrollment process.

“Each of the UIS academic programs has a QR code that redirects students to the University’s website with the specific characteristics of each program, field of action, occupational profile, duration, and the subjects they will study during their professional training,” said Raúl Gómez Torrado, a professional at IPRED UIS.

This Friday, October 17, the results of the Saber 11 tests will be announced, and the University is already preparing to begin the enrollment process in the coming days for undergraduate programs in face-to-face, distance, and virtual modalities for the 2026-1 academic period.
