The rector of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), Hernán Porras Díaz, officially handed over 26 offices for professors from the Schools of Biology and Mathematics, as well as the renovated study centers for the Schools of Physics and Chemistry.

These spaces were suitably modernized with new furniture, air conditioning, better lighting, and functional design, thus strengthening the institutional commitment to providing high-quality public education.

“Today, 16 offices on the east side and 10 on the west side of the Faculty of Sciences building were handed over to Biology and Mathematics professors. In addition, the Chemistry and Physics study centers, located on the second and third floors, were also renovated,” explains Pascual Cortés Guarín, architect of the Physical Plant Division.

The University continues to develop projects that contribute to the well-being of its academic community. In this same faculty, progress is being made in adapting more comfortable spaces for teachers and students.

“The entire project includes 38 offices, of which 12 remain pending. The basement, where the Mathematics and Biology study centers are located, is also being renovated. It is important to note that students are participating in the design of these spaces, expressing their needs and contributing ideas, so each one has a particular focus,” added Cortés Guarín.

The teachers expressed their gratitude for the renovated facilities, which offer better conditions for carrying out their academic work.

“This is very different from what we had before. The offices are brighter, more comfortable, and cooler thanks to the air conditioning. We teachers feel great,” says Bjorn Reu, director of the School of Biology.

They also highlighted that the new offices make it easier to assist students and provide tutoring, as they have whiteboards and an environment that is more conducive to learning.

“I am sure that the students will feel very comfortable. Now we will have closer contact with them, after having worked scattered around the construction sites. We thank the administration for taking us into account,” said Julio Roberto Pinzón, director of the School of Chemistry.

Similarly, physics and chemistry students expressed their satisfaction after the delivery of the renovated study centers, designed according to their suggestions. These spaces include a reception area, computer and reading areas, whiteboards, lockers, ergonomic furniture, and air conditioning, providing ideal environments for research and academic study.

“We are very happy. The new spaces are spacious, modern, and will allow us to develop better academically. This change motivates us to continue building our dreams,” says Carolina Tirado, student representative of the School of Chemistry.

The UIS continues to consolidate itself as a space committed to academic excellence, university well-being, and the continuous improvement of its institutional infrastructure.
