The 39th International Piano Festival opened with the Lithuanian pianist Mūza Rubackytė

Lithuanian pianist Mūza Rubackytė was the special guest at the launch of the 39th UIS International Piano Festival, the most nationally and internationally recognized cultural event in Bucaramanga and the most important pianistic reference in Colombia.

With works by composers Godowsky and Chopin, this gala recital by the Lithuanian pianist was the best preamble to open this International Festival that, from Thursday September 1 to Sunday September 11, will have the Luis A. Calvo Auditorium and other venues in Bucaramanga and municipalities of Santander enjoying this piano festival, which seeks to expand the practice and enjoyment of this instrument.

The International Piano Festival, which is already a cultural heritage of the people of Santander, receives important exponents of national and world pianism, full of colors and sounds from all latitudes, because the Festival ‘Nos toca a todos’.

“I think it is very important to feel the art, to look at Botero’s paintings, likewise, it is very important to experience live music, some of you will make music, of that I am sure. And concerts are always very inspiring, we should make music ourselves,” expressed excited Mūza Rubackytė.

The first part of the recital included the interpretation of the Piano Sonata by the Russian composer Leopold Godowsky, in a reduced version in four movements and, after the intermission, the pianist presented the Fantasia in F Minor, Op. 49, and the Sonota for piano in B flat minor, Op. 35, by the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin. Finally, as a gift to the audience, she interpreted a Prelude by Chopin.

MŪZA RUBACKYTĖ

A great piano soloist, Muza Rubackyte has performed in major concerts with leading orchestras in European halls such as: The Wigmore, London Hall, Beethoven Haus-Bonn, Germany, Salle Gayeau in Paris and Concertgebouw in Holland, among others. In his career he has participated in recitals and major concerts on festival stages in France and on five continents, where he has worked with great conductors and orchestras.

He was born in Lithuania and lives between Paris, Vilnius and Geneva. After completing his studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, he won the famous All Union Competition in St. Petersburg, designed to select the best musicians in the Soviet Union, and then the prize at the Liszt-Bartók International Piano Competition in Budapest.
